The Grandeur of Old….

I love old homes but “old” definitely comes with its challenges…..

As a Realtor, I cringe when home inspection day comes.  You never know what you’re going to find, and as a result your buyer may be crushed with the knob and tube found, along with the insulation full of asbestos.

As a Stager though, old homes hold untold potential when it comes to presentation and I get excited about showcasing them.  I could go on forever talking about the width of the baseboards, height of the ceilings, the grand staircases, huge principle rooms, and the character that speaks so loudly to a potential Buyer.  Pretty soon as you’re walking through these homes you’re saying, “so what if there is no closets, the floor slopes to the north, and you can see daylight under the front door.” That’s right, if you love old you start to defend all the negatives because you have fallen in love”….all you old house lovers know what I’m talking about.

Once in awhile though, you get the best of both worlds…..an updated and old house (yes, with closets).  These are the type of houses I have real fun with…..uncovering and showcasing the character and real beauty in these gems.

This house that is highlighted here needed a few areas uncovered……it went from a haphazard, daily living look to alive and beautiful.  Enjoy….
